By default Salesforce.com is configured for B2B where generally a Sales representative or Marketing professional deals with Companies and Contacts in that company. But what if customers are individuals like if my customers are Students who do not belong to a Company ?? In that case, it will be difficult to log them as a Lead in Salesforce.com because Company Name is compulsory for a Lead due to default B2B configuration.
But, thankfully Salesforce.com has provided a feature called Person Account which makes it possible. It’s a feature which can’t be configured by even System Admins directly and you need to contact Salesforce.com support in order to get it activated because once activated it can’t be undone.
In this regard, there is a very helpful blog written by Mr. Jeff Douglas and we thank him for that. Here is the blog URL – http://blog.jeffdouglas.com/2010/06/22/working-with-person-accounts-in-salesforce-com/
